Prolog

“THAT'S THE ENEMY!” Yells the Azerbaijani officer for the I-don't-know-how-many times and glares at us to underline his implicit accusation that we sympathize or even collaborate with said enemy. I have a snippy remark on the tip of my tongue, but the angel in my head, which is slowly getting hoarse, calls out to me for the umpteenth time with the vehemence that is the equal of the major: “Stay calm, act remorseful and swallow any counter-speech”, which is not exactly what it is my strongest discipline is, as my friend Simon knows only too well, whose pleading look I catch from my side.

In front of the garrison commander, who is increasingly drooling in rage, lie our smartphones and my laptop, which we grudgingly had to unlock with our passwords so that they could be searched for prohibited material. The fact that this search turned out to be highly amateurish and focused more on private photos filled us with silent gratitude and hope. Because there is plenty to find that could really get us into trouble.

Horror stories of other travelers flash through my head, who in similar situations elsewhere in the world have been robbed of all their data by overzealous, all-powerful security organs through digital deletion or confiscation of their devices.

“It's your own fault” I hear the cursed angel in my head, while the devil just smiles smugly and mumbles “We wanted to have an adventure”.
There is indeed something true about it, even if it really wasn't intended that way ...

Frank Panthöfer, friends call him Panny, describes his motorcycle trip to the eight highest peaks in Europe as we know him. Usually casual, very amusing and entertaining. Paired with the information that the reader needs about the locations that pass before his mind's eye while reading like a film.

And if you want to know more, you can even get the GPS data for the various stops on the trip. All he has to do is go to the author's website at www.krad-vagabunden.de and contact the author by email.

Panny spent six months in the Caucasus region with his girlfriend Simon, who is responsible for the numerous and very successful photos. With all the twists and turns that such a trip to regions that are not entirely free of crises entails. Cosmopolitan and cautious as they are, they survived all adventures unscathed and were able to make many new contacts.

The book is - like all the others by the author - an indispensable must for all those who would like to go on a long-distance trip, who might want to enrich their own memories and the large group of all those who dream of such a tour, but themselves can never bring himself to drive them too. So - basically - for all motorcycle and travel enthusiasts.

For the book, I can definitely recommend the author's lecture, who makes the written text appear even more lively and vivid. Panny you can touch is a special experience. The dates and locations of the events can also be found on the website www.krad-vagabunden.de (Lectures and dates).
“Adventure Caucasus”, a trip to the highest mountains in Europe, ISBN number 978300630408, can be ordered directly from the author's website for 19.95 euros - free of shipping costs in Germany.
