In various models in the current collection, the motorcycle clothing manufacturer Held, in cooperation with Osram, ensures greater visibility on the road. This is made possible by retrofittable LED light modules from Osram, with which motorcyclists can ensure better visibility and more safety at night and in fog.

“The integration of textile lighting in motorcycle clothing offers a completely new approach to increasing road safety. Together with Held, we were able to develop an effective solution especially for motorcycle clothing, ”says Stefan Hofmann, head of the Smart Textile Illumination division at Osram.

For the motorcycle season, Held is offering two motorcycle jackets and a vest that can be easily and independently retrofitted with active lighting modules from Osram.

In the dark or when visibility is poor, passive protection, for example with reflective strips in clothing, is usually not sufficient. In comparison, jackets with integrated lighting do not require incident light from car headlights or street lamps, but offer active protection.

The Osram light modules, specially developed for two jackets and a vest from Held, can be easily switched on by connecting a power bank before riding the motorcycle. Without any further manual settings, the light strips offer up to seven hours of active lighting in continuous operation (with a 4,000 mAh battery), implemented on the front of the garment by light modules with white LEDs and on the back with red LEDs. The light modules can be integrated into the garments independently in a few steps in a fabric tube. The battery can easily be charged via the USB port.
